The San Diego Padres got a tough win over the Los Angeles Dodgers yesterday at Petco Park with the Padres picking up the W 3 to 1. Padres pitcher Ryan Webb (3.70 ERA) got the win, while Chad Billingsley (4.03 ERA) took the loss for the Dodgers. Cesar Ramos went 5 innings for the Padres, allowed 4 hits, no home runs and one earned run with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Padres was Luke Gregerson (3.33), Joe Thatcher (2.84), and Mike Adams (0.79). The Dodgers’s starter Chad Billingsley went 6 innings, allowed 2 hits, one home run and 2 earned runs with 5 walks and 5 strikeouts. Hong-Chih Kuo (3.10), Scott Elbert (4.91), and Ronald Belisario (2.09) also pitched for the Dodgers. With the win, Webb’s record goes to 2-0, while Billingsley is at 12-11. Heath Bell earned the save for the Padres, bringing his saves up to 41.
In addition to the 3 runs, the Padres scored 4 hits and committed one error. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Padres, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Chase Headley had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Dodgers didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Dodgers managed one run, 4 hits and no errors.
Umpiring duties were performed by Greg Gibson, Tim McClelland, Andy Fletcher and Ted Barrett. There were 25,318 Padres ticket holders in attendance at Petco Park.
The win puts the Padres at a record of 73-85, (20 games behind the division leader), while the loss brings the Dodgers to 93-65, at the top of their division. The Dodgers will try to get a game back from the Padres tomorrow. There are still plenty of tickets available so take a look.
