Dodgers shutout by Padres at Petco Park

The San Diego Padres took on the the Los Angeles Dodgers yesterday at Petco Park with the Padres coming out on top 5 to 0. It was a solid match that aficionados with Padres tickets won’t soon forget.

Padres pitcher Clayton Richard (4.41 ERA) got the win, while Jon Garland (4.01 ERA) took the loss for the Dodgers. Clayton Richard went 7 solid innings for the Padres, allowed one hit, no home runs and no earned runs with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Padres was Mike Adams (0.77), and Luke Gregerson (3.28). The Dodgers’s starter Jon Garland went 3.1 innings, allowed 7 hits, one home run and 4 earned runs with one walk and 4 strikeouts. Scott Elbert (4.66), Guillermo Mota (3.50), Vicente Padilla (4.55), and Jeff Weaver (3.65) also pitched for the Dodgers. With the win, Richard’s record goes to 9-5, while Garland is at 11-13.

In addition to the 5 runs, the Padres scored 9 hits and committed one error. Nick Hundley led the Padres in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Chase Headley’s 2 hits. Clayton Richard had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Dodgers didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Dodgers scored no runs, one hit and one error.

Umpiring duties were performed by Tim McClelland, Andy Fletcher, Ted Barrett and Greg Gibson. There were 25,469 Padres ticket holders in attendance at Petco Park.

The win puts the Padres at a record of 74-85, (19 games behind the division leader), while the loss brings the Dodgers to 93-66, at the top of their division. The Dodgers and Padres go again tomorrow. There are still plenty of tickets available so take a look.
