The Los Angeles Dodgers did battle with the the San Francisco Giants yesterday at AT&T Park with the Dodgers picking up the W 8 to 2. Dodgers pitcher Vicente Padilla (5.05 ERA) got the win, while Jonathan Sanchez (3.26 ERA) took the loss for the Giants. Vicente Padilla went 7 solid innings for the Dodgers, allowed 3 hits, one home run and one earned run with one walk and 5 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Dodgers was Ramon Troncoso (5.45), George Sherrill (6.98), and Justin Miller (4.02). The Giants’s starter Jonathan Sanchez went 5 innings, allowed 6 hits, 2 home runs and 4 earned runs with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Santiago Casilla (2.51), Sergio Romo (2.56), Brian Wilson (2.18), and Denny Bautista (2.16) also pitched for the Giants. With the win, Padilla’s record goes to 2-2, while Sanchez is at 6-6.
In addition to the 8 runs, the Dodgers scored 10 hits and committed one error. Rafael Furcal led the Dodgers in hitting with 4 hits, followed by Matt Kemp’s 3 hits, and Jamey Carroll with 2. James Loney had a tough day at the plate, leaving 6 runners on base. Aaron Rowand had the most hits for the Giants (3), followed by Eli Whiteside (1). The Giants managed 2 runs, 7 hits and one error.
