Dodgers fall to Giants 5-2

The San Francisco Giants took on the the Los Angeles Dodgers yesterday at Dodger Stadium with the Giants coming out on top 5 to 2. It was a solid match that aficionados with Giants tickets won’t soon forget.

Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner (2.41 ERA) got the win, while James McDonald (7.20 ERA) took the loss for the Dodgers. Madison Bumgarner went 5.2 innings for the Giants, allowed 6 hits, one home run and one earned run with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Giants was Guillermo Mota (3.03), Sergio Romo (2.21), and Jeremy Affeldt (4.24). The Dodgers’s starter James McDonald went 5 innings, allowed 9 hits, one home run and 4 earned runs with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Carlos Monasterios (3.61), George Sherrill (7.48), and Jeff Weaver (3.52) also pitched for the Dodgers. With the win, Bumgarner’s record goes to 3-2, while McDonald is at 0-1. Brian Wilson earned the save for the Giants, bringing his saves up to 26.

In addition to the 5 runs, the Giants scored 11 hits and committed one error. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Giants, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Nate Schierholtz had a tough day at the plate, leaving 5 runners on base. Russell Martin, Matt Kemp and Rafael Furcal all got 3 hits for the Dodgers. Andre Ethier could not get much going at the plate as he left 4 runners on base. The Dodgers scored 2 runs, 10 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Mike Everitt, Adrian Johnson, Tim McClelland and Andy Fletcher. There were 45,056 Dodgers ticket holders in attendance at Dodger Stadium.
