Dodgers Lose Close One To Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies got a tough win over the Los Angeles Dodgers yesterday at Citizens Bank Park with the Phillies picking up the W 10 to 9. You don’t often see such high scoring games, and anyone with Phillies tickets sure got their money’s worth. This high-scoring game saw the teams combine for a whopping 19 runs! Talk about excitement!

Phillies pitcher Danys Baez (5.40 ERA) got the win, while Jonathan Broxton (3.50 ERA) took the loss for the Dodgers. Joe Blanton went 5.2 innings for the Phillies, allowed 8 hits, no home runs and 4 earned runs with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Phillies was Chad Durbin (3.51), J.C. Romero (4.26), and Jose Contreras (3.60). The Dodgers’s starter Clayton Kershaw went 6.2 innings, allowed 6 hits, no home runs and 2 earned runs with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Hong-Chih Kuo (0.90), Ronald Belisario (4.91), Kenley Jansen (0.00), and George Sherrill (6.83) also pitched for the Dodgers. With the win, Baez’s record goes to 3-3, while Broxton is at 4-4.

In addition to the 10 runs, the Phillies scored 12 hits and committed 2 errors. Carlos Ruiz led the Phillies in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Wilson Valdez’s 2 hits, and Jayson Werth with 2. Raul Ibanez had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Dodgers’s Matt Kemp had quite a day at the plate, batting in a stunning 4 runs! Matt Kemp had the most hits for the Dodgers (3), followed by Jamey Carroll (2), and Andre Ethier (2). Andre Ethier could not get much going at the plate as he left 5 runners on base. The Dodgers managed 9 runs, 15 hits and one error.
