Nationals lose to Dodgers 8-3

The Los Angeles Dodgers challenged the the Washington Nationals yesterday at Dodger Stadium with the Dodgers triumphant 8 to 3. It was a thrilling night of baseball that anyone with Dodgers tickets will definitely cherish.

Dodgers pitcher Ted Lilly (3.60 ERA) got the win, while Jason Marquis (15.32 ERA) took the loss for the Nationals. Ted Lilly went 6 innings for the Dodgers, allowed 5 hits, 2 home runs and 3 earned runs with no walks and 6 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Dodgers was Kenley Jansen (0.00), Octavio Dotel (4.40), Ramon Troncoso (4.85), and Hong-Chih Kuo (0.93). The Nationals’s starter Jason Marquis went 4 innings, allowed 5 hits, no home runs and 2 earned runs with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Doug Slaten (3.12), Miguel Batista (4.30), Tyler Clippard (3.31), and Drew Storen (2.75) also pitched for the Nationals. With the win, Lilly’s record goes to 5-8, while Marquis falls to 0-4.

In addition to the 8 runs, the Dodgers managed 10 hits and committed 2 errors. Jamey Carroll led the Dodgers in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Ronnie Belliard’s 2 hits. Ryan Theriot had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. The Nationals didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Nationals mustered 3 runs, 6 hits and 2 errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Jim Wolf, Marvin Hudson, Derryl Cousins and Jim Joyce. There were 43,639 Dodgers ticket holders in attendance at Dodger Stadium.
