Dodgers take close one from Rockies

The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies in 11 innings yesterday in a hard-fought game of baseball. Dodgers pitcher George Sherrill (6.29 ERA) got the win, while Manny Delcarmen (5.11 ERA) took the loss for the Rockies. Clayton Kershaw went 4 innings for the Dodgers, allowed 4 hits, no home runs and 4 earned runs with 4 walks and 2 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Dodgers was Ronald Belisario (4.99), Kenley Jansen (0.83), Hong-Chih Kuo (1.31), and Jonathan Broxton (3.88). The Rockies’s starter Jason Hammel went 4 innings, allowed 6 hits, one home run and 4 earned runs with one walk and 2 strikeouts. Joe Beimel (3.38), Esmil Rogers (5.29), Matt Belisle (2.69), Matt Reynolds (2.08), Octavio Dotel (3.97), Rafael Betancourt (3.90), and Huston Street (3.65) also pitched for the Rockies. With the win, Sherrill’s record goes to 2-2, while Delcarmen falls to 3-4.

In addition to the 7 runs, the Dodgers managed 14 hits and committed one error. Matt Kemp led the Dodgers in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Rod Barajas’s 2 hits, and Ryan Theriot with 2. Casey Blake had a tough day at the plate, leaving 4 runners on base. Dexter Fowler had the most hits for the Rockies (3), followed by Jonathan Herrera (2). Melvin Mora could not get much going at the plate as he left 5 runners on base. The Rockies mustered 6 runs, 7 hits and one error.
